Rachael's Facebook Posts - Part 1

September 30, 2010

OH MY WORD!!!! God is SUCH a gracious God!!! Gonna write here...cuz don't know how else to get the word out to my loved ones that we are well and safe and SOOOOOO BLESSED!!! Our husbands were supposed to be coming out to Costa Rica to check out the rentals we looked at and get one for us and then pick us up tonight at t...he airport...but, God had a different molding plan in mind!! Yehaw!! So, our hubbies are still in Mexico and having grand adventures there...:)
And Melanie and myself and our 12 children left for Costa Rica today. We had called the mission pres. office out here to see if any ward members could help us in our plight of needing a place to stay the ...night and a way to get there from the airport.

A wonderful Elder Whitier was SO helpful...but, we only had gotten ahold of him the day before we were leaving..so we had yet to hear if someone for sure could help and how to contact them. We were going on faith that God would provide since He was the one who inspired and guided us to go to Costa Rica in the first place....

So...our last flight, we had 3, we still didn't know what to do. I was supposed to text my fam to get any updates from Elder Whitier, but truly we just ran from gate to gate to make our flights. It was insane, but beautiful! How I love a good adventure! How happy I feel to be going forward in the dark, but doing it, tr...usting God and KNOWING I am doing as He directed me to do!

We were trying to board our plane...a NOT SIMPLE TASK, with 12 LITTLE children and a jillion bags and things that go with them....oh my word, too much stuff(that is a story in itself!!) a man asked if he could help us, in english. Turns out this guy lives in Costa Rica, himself, is a christian and he and his daughter actually ended up sitting right behind me. They stayed with us until we got off the flight and went thru customs. It is like 10:30, almost all the children were so dead tired and crying( not even willing to be comforted)! He and his wife helped us find a van(and elder whitier) and drove us with our taxi's to their home and let us stay here with out cost and left to their apartment somewhere else....and we can stay as long as we would like and there is even a little store walking distance! They even left us some tico $ for the store!!!! So we are safe and...oh yeah, they unloaded our vans while we could put our children to sleep and get ready for beds ourselves!! We can even post because they have internet access...!!!!! MIRACLES!!! They even have like beds for ALL of us to sleep on...this is a NICE HOUSE!!!! Praise God!!!!LOVE you Jacob and family!!! And everyone!!! nite!

So there is our Costa Rica day and MIRACLE!!! LOVE YOU JACOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone is reading this that can get ahold of my family and tell them we are safe and to read my facebook posts, that would be SOOOO wonderful and much appreciated!!! This moring we have already had some friends of the people we met come and give us impt. info on phone #'s and places we might need.

OCTOBER 1

Well, our internet has been down since I last posted. But, we are so thankful to be on here now! What a gift and tool the internet and cell phones and gmail is!!!! Still haven't been able to talk with Jacob. But, I was able to find out he is safe and well. Hopefully he has crossed into Guatemala now? The roads are closed here to get to playa coco. Because of that hurricane in Mexico...it has rippled its effects here. So, we are hoping to leave Sun. Love you all!

OCTOBER 2

We are headed to Guanacaste today. We rented 2 vans. Our friend who let us stay at her home called a friend to ride with us to drive back the other van while one of us stayed with the kids.

~ Later that night... ~

OUr trip was great! Jose is a dream! OUr friends bought us snacks and food to take on the trip and helped us load our baggage. We made it to Guanacaste safe and sound and...well, the adventure begins! Gotta have some opportunities to praise god over the good AND the bad. Thought we were coming to a nice clean place, ended up being a complete DIVE...a motel. We are VERY motivated to get the heck out of this place and into a nice home somewhere! love you all! We are at playa de Coco our destination was near Santa Cruz. there are many playas(beaches) here. God is leading us! Thank Heavens!!!!

OCTOBER 5

We are in Huacas...pronounced, wacas. We needed a place to stay or rent for the next week or month until we find a rental we really like. We did not want to stay where we had another night. The only option we had was a condo in playa de coco...but, it was not close to a grocery store or the beach. We were praising god and praying. We all went to the beach for some down time(the kids were begging). Then we went to eat at a wonderful resturant, they are all wonderful here. We were just praying for another miracle and expecting God was blessing and guiding us as He has... continually(really this whole trip is one miracle after another!!! How could we NOT believe He wants us here?)We got on line at the resturant and checked our facebook. Neida, my friend from Costa Rica, when we came here before, was on line. She asked if we had found a place to stay. She said our friend Linda was leaving town and offered her home for us to stay in for the week!!!! Amazing! God is so merciful, kind, and MINDFUL of His children!!!! We just have to ask and then move forward in faith! So, we came right away! It is a great adventure! The house is small and humble, but the children are having a BLAST!!!! We have a tent for the kids in the back and Melanie, myself and the littlest ones are all sleeping inside on air mattresses and etc. Praise God for His angels on earth!!!!! Safe and blessed! love you all! Thank you so much for your prayers on our belhalf!

Yes...I do need to do a blogg. I have one. It just sounds like a lot of work, but...I am writing anyway, I guess. Good reminder Ellen, thank you:)
So much happens everyday. I just try to jot down a few of the most impt. things. We have been... keeping track of the boys thru our bank accounts. It really is wonderful to have technology! They were last in Managua, Nicaragua. So, they are very close! It has definately taken a LOT longer than we anticipated! Boy are we gonna be JOYFUL to see each other!!!!! LOVE THAT WONDERFUL MAN!!!!! They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. But, I don't need any absence for my heart to continually grow fonder for such a wonderful man of God as my Jacob!
We went to Tamarindo beach the other day for like 1 & 1/2 hours and we all came back sunburned! Especially the twins! It had been overcast much and we just didn't think it was gonna be so sunny. We will not make that mistake twice! But, the children were talking about playing in the ocean today...we went 2 days ago. They would live in the ocean practically if we let them. We can understand, it does feel heavenly! The twins LOVE it, but, little Leah hates it! It scares her. Hopefully she grows into it?

Every day we are reminded of Gods mindfulness of us and how he is in EVERY detail! It is really surreal! It is just amazing. We really can go to God and he hears our every prayer.
I love it that we can ALWAYS depend on Him. We can ALWAYS trust Him. He will always be there for us, even if He blesses us with silence sometimes. Praise God over and over for allowing us this earth life! We can either choose to be thankful and know there is a blessing in all things or we can choose to complain and choose not to see the blessings, but to see what we are lacking. I prefer the first.

OCTOBER 8

We are in Huacas. There is a super compras store there. If you head nw on the road that passes the super compras store going towards Playa grande, there is a green grassy field on your right. At the end of the field, take your 1st right, we are the 2nd house on the left, a yellow house, gaited. Please find us! We miss you!! Love you Jacob,Dannan and David!

OCTOBER 9

Hallelujah! We are together again! We found the boys by driving around in a taxi. They were headed our way and we thought we saw them and stopped to flag them down. It was a VERY joyous reunion!!!! Everything seems better having our husbands here! Because it truly is! We have a LOT to do though! We are looking for our ...homes! We are excited to see what the Lord has picked out for us and eager to be in it!

OCTOBER 15

Oh my word!!!!! It is a little hard to type on a spanish keyboard, we don¨t have internet where we are at....so...hope you can understand my typing for the most part...This will be short, but WHAT MIRACLES!!!!!

So...we stayed at a friends house for a week exactly and we were all praying for a miracle to find one or two houses for cheap that we could live in for a few months till the guys start bringing in the dough. The guys arrived Fri, one week ...ago today...and we had to be out of our friends house by Mon. We decided to fast. So, as we began our fast on Sat. Mel and I were talking about church the next day. We both felt like we should not go to Santa Cruz, but...Liberia. I kept feeling we might meet someone at church there who would know of a house that we could rent. So, it ended up that we went to church there, we werent going to, but...we were late and then we got pulled over by the cops when we went to go see this other house that Dannan and Melanie really liked. So, we went to Liberia to eat lunch and then go to church(because we were a little early). So this lady gave Jacob a number of a family from the states that owned a cabin in Nicoya that was vacant that is on a farm. Jacob called and we went to check it out. MILAGRO!!!! MIRACLE!!!It was perfect!!!! It is very small. But, larger th...an our friends home. It only has 2 bedrooms, and 2 bath...but, it is NICE!!!!! It is VERY nice and CLEAN and it has a pool and horses and a huge yard...we live on a jungle farm! NO kiddin! We woke up today to a family of monkeys in the trees outside of the house. THe cabin is all windows in the front, mostly windows all around. It is really a nice home! The 2 bedrooms are queen beds. There is a large loft upstairs. But, the rooms have like little window beds infront of all the windows in the rooms, so we can fit all the children in our room, if they want. We did find the LARGEST cockroaches I have ever seen last night! HOLY COW! We were having a barb que for the boys bdays. The guys had to kill roaches the size of...well atleast 2 inches in size! The children and I had nightmares all night after that! Plus, they killed a VERY large spider...that looked like a scorpion...it had fangs like a scorpion! GEEESH!!!!!!!!! I never ran into either of those in my experience in Costa Rica before!!! YUCK!!!!!! I REALLY want to give more details...just so little time and SOOOOOOOOO much to say! Gotta run, we cant find our camera...hopefully not stolen. When we find it, we will put fotos up. really we are SO blessed! love to you all! miss you all! it is way different here. love it, but...expensive and just not like america. praise god for all you have. We take so much for granted over there! really we all have SOOOOO much! even those of us who think we have so little, you don{t really know how very much you really have! Be thankful! love you!

OCTOBER 26

We are Villa Real tonight visiting the Wride family. We just went to Conchal beach tonight. We got there around 4pm and it was GORGEOUS!!! The beach was all crushed shells so the water was clear and blue and Gorgeous!!!!!! The children found lots of crabs on the reefs and little Leah has now decided the beach and the water are definately fun... Leah just runs into the water...this time there was a little of a drop off into the ocean. The little bigger kids, even Joan and Seth were fine...Leah was a little too short. But, she did not mind. She would just run into the water pell mel...l! Between her and Joseph and Andrew, it was a hand full. But, it was very fun! Then it rained and we left. Now we are at our new friends home...they shared their dinner with our small group:) and the kids are swimming and playing here, instead of the ocean. While we adults are thoroughly enjoying a visit with english speaking friends who cans relate with us and our adventures! God is SO GREAT!!!!! LOVE you all! Sorry, I never have time to write much details. Ask me q's if you like...love you! Miss you!
